Partnership with the Boston Public Library
Digital Commonwealth and the Boston Public Library are working together to make digital collections of cultural organizations in Massachusetts available via a state-of-the art web discovery and delivery system.
The Boston Public Library, via its Library for the Commonwealth program, provides digitization, repository, and metadata services to cultural organizations in Massachusetts.
Digital Commonwealth members (and other eligible organizations) are able to:
Participate in the BPL's digitization program
Receive help selecting, digitizing, and creating metadata for your projects.
Include your collections in www.digitalcommonwealth.org
Host your content in this state-of-the-art digital repository system.
Share metadata from your own repository through harvesting.
Provide users the ability to search and browse digital content from throughout. Massachusetts in one centralized location.
Participate in the Digital Public Library of America
Metadata from www.digitalcommonwealth.org is harvested into this national effort to collect “the riches of America’s libraries, archives, and museums.”
Have books digitized and hosted by the Internet Archive.
