This day-long event will allow representatives from Digital Commonwealth member organizations to gain hands-on experience creating metadata about historical photographic images from their own collections. In addition to learning about the preferred content standards for the new Digital Commonwealth repository, attendees will have an opportunity to work in a collaborative, supportive environment. Staff from the Boston Public Library will be leading the work party and representatives from the Digital Commonwealth Outreach Committee are coordinating the event.
SNOW DATE: Wednesday, March 26, 2014, from 9:30 a. m. until 3:30 p.m.
Requirements:
--Open to staff of current Digital Commonwealth member organizations who want to gain hands on experience describing photographic materials from their collections.
--Must be able to bring a laptop that is WiFi capable and has Microsoft Office applications.
--Must be able to bring photocopies or digital images of 5-10 photographic items from your historical collections that you are willing to eventually share via the Digital Commonwealth repository.
--Must be willing to complete brief survey form before work party. (This form will be emailed to attendees.)
