Is your institution preparing for a big anniversary? Are you considering a celebration in 5 years, 1 year, or 6 months? Join us for a discussion of how to start thinking about and plan your institution's anniversary. Our speakers represent a wide variety of institutions. They will discuss issues related to the planning, preparation, execution, budgeting, and assessment of initiatives for institutional anniversaries. They will talk about their successes and challenges. Each presenter will offer an overview of their institution’s anniversary events and will be prepared to answer your questions.

Our panelists will include:

• Sarah Campbell – Assistant Archivist, College of the Holy Cross
• Brendan Higgins – Public Services Librarian, Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music
• Mary Bell – Assistant Director, Wilbraham Public Library
• John Healey – Archives Librarian, Emmanuel College
• Heather Mumford – Archivist, T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Countway School of Medicine

Topics for discussion may include:

• When do you start planning?
• Which departments do you collaborate with?
• Do you plan one big event, or many smaller ones?
• Why types of events are most popular?
• Are exhibits important? Both online and physical?
• Are there special publications for the anniversary?
• What type of programming is involved?
• How do you budget for an anniversary? Where does the money come from?
• How do you engage key players?
• How do you take the initiative?
• What do you focus on? Buildings? Documents? People?
